A writer’s conundrum

Being a writer is tough. You will always find yourself jostling for space to make people read you. There are thousands of blogs that throng the internet. Infact they make the core of internet for what it is today- information.

Writing is a hard job. It requires patience. Patience to write, research, compile, edit, rewrite and god knows what not. Also, some patience is required from the reader’s side as well. It is enough to put someone off by simply making him see the length of your book or article.

But it is writer’s own creativity how he hooks his readers with his story. Most of writing is story telling. It makes the most boring topics interesting or at least make them less sleepy to read.

People are slowly distancing themselves from reading, why? When you have the luxury to make people see the same story visually enacted by actors or recited by characters, who will take the headache of actually reading the long text and interpreting the actual meaning or drawing their own conclusion.

I consider writers no less than artists. Artists weave art in the form of pictures, stills, enacting and etc. while writers can weave the same magic through words. One of my friend always says, “Artists dont earn much, they have to cling on with something else if they want their end to meet”.

A writer’s world is full of uncertainties and self-doubt. People actually judge him by how many readers you have. Publishers only publish content which they think will sell. You will find numerous examples of writers whos books were once thought had zero commercial value but they went on to become bestsellers. I shall never know what goes through the mind of publishers when they reject a writers work.

Internet has actually made publishing far better & easier yet the same jostling for readers is still there. You have the liberty to reach nook & corner of the world. But how do you make people believe you that you write better than those billions of blogs, websites and social media sites.

There are many forms, scope and types of writing that have become prevalent these days. You can either become a niche writer or you can become a journalist who is always searching of new stories to keep his job. Then there are writers who write for sports, fashion, tech and etc.

As a writer there are of some your work that give you immense satisfaction. If you get your readers praise, there is no joy better than that.

You also live under constant fear of getting your stolen by somebody 7 gets the success you earnestly deserved. Tough.

It’s tough being a ‘writer’.
